At the two-day personal data protection training and public debate held in Vranje and Pirot, numerous challenges that citizens, institutions, media and civil society organizations face, could be heard. Most often, appeals for improving privacy protection on social networks, checking the legitimacy of personal data processing, collected on various grounds, as well as the safe use of artificial intelligence, could be heard.
The aim of the trainings and public is to get acquainted with current legal solutions (in the EU and the Republic of Serbia) and training for the proper implementation of the Law on Personal Data Protection, as well as a public debate with representatives of local communities on the topic of personal data protection. Trainings and public debates, which are implemented within the project support in 15 selected local self-government units, are especially important for raising capacities protecting personal data and raising awareness of the general public and informing citizens.
The training was conducted by representatives of the Office of the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Protection of Personal Data, with the support of the multi-donor “Facility supporting strengthening rule of law in the Republic of Serbia" (EU FOR FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION AND FOR FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS) co-financed by the EU and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
